About Sudurpaschim University / Far Western University

Far Western University (FWU) was founded in 2010 through an Act of the Parliament of Nepal as a national university funded by the government. It has its headquarters at Bhimdatta Municipality, Kanchanpur and the university is very much focussed on the educational and socio-economic development of the Far Western region with special emphasis on the issue of access to higher education.

The university offers academic programmes at various faculties including the faculties of Human and Social Sciences, Education, Management, Science and Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Law, Health Sciences and Natural Resource Management. It has undergraduate and graduate programs and has recently started offering MPhil and PhD research degrees.

FWU's priorities are academic excellence, research-based education, community engagement and partnerships. Academic programs include information technology, management, engineering, science, agriculture and forestry, and education and other professional disciplines, with opportunities to build knowledge and skills for future study and employment.
